What is the best liquid diet available without a doctor?
Q. I can't afford a doctor, but the Atkins diet is not working for me. Is there a web site that offers a good liquid diet?
Asked by x x - Thu Aug 13 19:41:32 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Liquid diets aren't always the best because your body doesn't digest it the same. It's similar to drinking V8 juice. That doesn't count as a serving of fruit or vegetables because your body doesn't recognize the nutrients as it would say, an apple. The best way to lose weight is to just eat low fat, low calorie foods. Foods such as celery and cabbage make you lose a bit more weight because they keep you full with the fiber and they also burn more calories being digested than they actually contain. Dairy is high in fat, so low fat cheese and skim milk are always an option along with water based soups. Things like that should help lose weight.

Is a liquid diet a safe way to lose weight?
Q. I exercise for about 20-30 minutes everyday (i run). If i went on an all liquid diet without sugary juices like twister, would it work? How rapidly would i lose weight?
Asked by Sammie - Sat Jun 28 00:07:24 2008 - - 8 Answers - 1 Comments
A. With your execise regimen, I would not advise a liquid diet. Your body needs fuel in the form of carbs and proteins to keep you from burning muscle instead of fat.

A. Liquid diets do not work. You need nutrients that are found in fruits and vegetables that you can not get in liquids. The best way to loose weight is to exercise and eat properly which means No fried foods or sugar. no liquid diets!!!

What are the risks of an all liquid diet?
Q. What are the risks of an all liquid diet? Not like replacing one or two meals a day with a replacement shake, but a nothing-but-liquid diet. I mean, I take vitamins and daily supplements, so I get those from pills, and the shakes I'd use are protein with a few carbs per serving. What would the risks be of this diet? Only for like 2 weeks to a month though, I just want to loose about 20 pounds to make working out easier.

A. I lost 50 pounds by just changing my diet to a low-fat, low-protein, low-refined carb vegan diet comprised of mostly fresh foods. This is described in one of many programs described by Dr. Dean Ornish in his book: "The Spectrum" A liquid protein diet will work, however, it's not healthy according to the research I've found. Hospitals make a lot of money with that program, but it lacks many of the ingredients in a real living foods. You are better off limiting your diet to: + Leafy Green vegetables (in a green smoothie) + Sprouted beans and brown rice/whole grains. + A small quantity of nuts and seeds. + Raw or steamed vegetables without butter or margarine + Raw Fruits + Omega 3 fatty acids + Vitamin B12 + Sunshine on your skin or a… [cont.]

What drinks can I drink on a three day liquid diet?
Q. Can I only drink water or can I drink juice, too? I am going to go on a three day liquid-only diet because not only does it clean out impurities in your body, it cleanses your whole body system and is good for your health, plus, you lose weight. So what drinks can you drink on a three day liquid diet? I already avoid pop and fruit juice (unless it's 100%). Thanks.

A. i'm doing that too!!! I am finishing up my first day of a three to five day juice fast, I had: A large glass of carrot juice in the morning 8oz apple juice later in the morning small glass of carrot juice around 2 a celery/spinach/parsley veggie drink from whole foods juice bar around 4 and now a glass of kiwi juice and lots of water and some hot green tea but that's it you can drink as much juice as you want, vegetable is the best though, and will avoid giving you heartburn (although it doesn't taste as good as fruit juice, lol) good luck!!! I'm glad i got through the first day, i'm hoping i can make it through the next two. i'm exciting about dropping a few pounds and detoxing my body

Q. I am having the LapBand procedure next week Friday. I have to start a full liquid diet and the dietician gave me some good ideas for foods, but I'm wondering if anyone has any good ideas for foods that are hot? I know she told me that I should be able to drink it through a straw, if I could, that would be the right consistency. So, any ideas??

Is a liquid diet good for one week plus a few days?
Q. i work out here and there but by the end of next week I need to loose some pounds to fit into this dress. Would a liquid diet plus working out be good to loose 10 pounds at max? Any advice? I'm thinking water, V8 (the mixed kinda or low sodium), milk, and fruit juice. If there any other juices/drinks in general that I should drink?
Asked by AshleyF - Fri Aug 15 15:12:05 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I don't believe this would be an effective weight loss alternative. There is a similar variations of liquid diets that don't do anything but starve your body. You will only get 500-1,000 calories a day. All this does is deprive your body of important nutrients that your body needs. I would highly encourage that you stay clear of any form of a liquid diet.

A. they are counter productive. liquid calories are digested faster than whole foods so the body spends less energy. they don't keep satisfied as long and tend to cause overeating in many.

Could you lose a lot of weight on an all clear liquid diet?
Q. My friends are on this all clear liquid diet, they say it could make you lose a lot of weight. is it true?
Asked by Sammiix3 - Mon Dec 22 20:56:03 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Of course they can lose a lot of weight on it, they aren't eating anything! The problem with diets like this is that they aren't healthy, and they aren't sustainable. So when you go back to eating normally, you gain all the weight back, plus some! The only "diet" that works is a balanced diet low in fat, high in fruits and vegetables. This is something that is sustainable, and will allow you to lose weight while getting the nutrients your body needs to survive.

A. If you have the money, try getting a juicer and a blender. Make yourself smoothies and juice some vegetables. Juicing is actually tastier than it sounds too. Try carrots, cucumbers, and celery. If your looking for protein, add some protein mix to your smoothies.

A. I am no doctor, but if he/she did this for weight loss, it might be time to switch to a new doctor! You can expect to lose weight rapidly, but also... when you go back to normal... gain it back (and possibly then some) rapidly. Liquid diets are miserable. After your two weeks are up, work really hard to keep the weight off, make sure you change your lifestyle and don't pick up where you left off. While your weight is unhealthy, do not call your situation horrible. You're beautiful! My best advice for you would be to find some form of physical activity that you enjoy. I love workout videos that involve different kinds of dance, personally. Or you could put on your sneakers and hit the streets. Walk at a swift pace, as if you were… [cont.]
