Salmon belong to some of the same genera as trout but, unlike most trout, most salmon species spend almost all their lives in salt water. Trout are classifed as an oily fish. The word trout is also used as part of the name of some non-salmonid fish such as Cynoscion nebulosus, the spotted seatrout or speckled trout. From Wikipedia under the

There is this wild trout that has been swimming in the same pool for weeks on this specific section of the Arkansas River. I know how to use flies and lures , but I want to try power-bait and salmon eggs. So far it has been 2 weeks and no success. Whenever I throw in a grasshopper or worm he eats its, but I do not want to use things that would look natural to it or is natural for that matter. Asked by redcore86 - Tue Sep 2 18:07:36 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Power bait doesn't work too well on wild trout. Those floating dough baits work much better on farm raised trout. Power worm on the other hand, will work on wild trout. Spinners will work on wild trout. Cream cheese or velveeta could work. Salmon eggs might or might not work depending on the season. If you fish around areas where there's no salmon, yellow/orange colored eggs tend to work better than red ones. Cured trout roe (if you're allowed to use it) will outperform salmon eggs. Salmon egg flies could work too. You could even try canned corn. Answered by James W - Wed Sep 3 06:03:34 2008 What is the easiest, most low-maintenance way to cook fish (trout) over a campfire? Q. I'll be taking the kids camping, and should we be lucky enough to catch rainbow trout in the creek next to where we'll be camping, I'd like us to cook it over the campfire and enjoy the fish. Can this be done without a pan? Can we just use tinfoil? Ideas? Asked by KristenCO - Tue May 27 11:14:25 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. Yes to foil...I can tell you how my husband has done it for 10 years ,on our grill clean each fish and rinse, leave the skin on for now put the fish in the foil if you happen to have a lemon with you give it a little squirt and a pat of butter ( it will make a little sauce of sorts) wrap it up to seal about 6/8 minutes on each side I would not put it right in the flames only over hot coles or off to the side. when the fish is done the skin will peel right away and you can lift the bones right out and make sure that you have them all . I really hope this helps have fun!!! Answered by Payjani - Tue May 27 11:23:08 2008 whats the best way to cook trout?
